In short

You can request deletion of your yuzu account and the personal data associated with it at any time. We action verified requests within 30 days. Some records linked to past orders are retained for legal reasons — see below.

How to request deletion

The button above opens your email client pre-filled. If it does not work, send an email manually to privacy@orderyuzu.com with the subject “Account deletion request”.

We verify requests by replying to the email address on your account, so please send the request from that address. If you have lost access to it, contact us and we will guide you through an alternative identity check.

What gets deleted

Account credentialsEmail, password hash, login session, push notification tokens.
Profile dataYour name, role on the vessel, contact details, language preference.
Personal preferencesSaved shopping lists, dietary preferences, uniform sizes.
Photos you uploadedIssue report photos and any other media tied to your account.
Support messagesBug reports and support correspondence tied to your account.

What we retain, and why

yuzu is a B2B platform that handles financial transactions on behalf of vessels. Some records must be retained even after your personal account is deleted, to meet tax, accounting, and dispute-resolution obligations.

Orders, quotes, invoices, credit notes7 years — required by financial regulations in the UK and EU. Your name is removed and replaced with a tombstone reference where possible; the financial line items themselves stay.
Audit logs of admin actions7 years — required for fraud and dispute investigations.
Email delivery logs12 months, then automatically purged.
Aggregated, anonymised usage dataIndefinite — it no longer identifies you and is used only to improve the platform.

We retain the minimum necessary. Where legally permitted to anonymise rather than delete, we anonymise.

A note on vessel data

If you are a crew member on a vessel managed in yuzu, your personal account is separate from the vessel record. Deleting your account removes your identity and personal data, but the vessel itself — including its budgets, order history, and any other crew accounts — is unaffected. Only a vessel administrator can request deletion of a vessel record, and only when there are no open orders or unpaid invoices.

Timeline

After we receive a verified request:

  • We confirm receipt within 3 business days.
  • Your login is disabled immediately so the account can no longer be accessed.
  • Personal data is deleted within 30 days.
  • Retained records (above) are anonymised where possible.
  • You will receive a final confirmation email when deletion is complete.
